          Another Ergonomics case study is about a large supplier of computers servers, workstations and super-computers called Silicon Graphic Inc. The workers doing office work had to use the computer mouse extensively , assembly line had to do considerable manual work while handling materials and the workers also had to lift heavy computer systems to pack them into shipping boxes. The hazards were identified by increasing cases of Cumulative Trauma Disorder (CTD) related injuries in 1990s , increase back injuries and a resulting increase in medical costs. Furthermore , they hired an ergonomics consultant to evaluate the workstations for ergonomic conditions and provided compulsory ergonomic trainings to their employess and purchased new ergonomics office equipment. The ergonomics case study goes on to report that is reduced their upper limb disorder cases by 41% and all related and all related injuries by 70%. This ergonomics program was made successful by the support and funding of the upper management for it.

-A resulting increase in medical costs
-Exposed to different types of CTDs.

4 : State the improvement methods that can be taken by the company to overcome the problems                (5 MARKS)

-Their workers less exposed to different type of CDTs.
-Reduced their upper limb disorder cases by 41 percent.
-Hired an ergonomics consultant to evaluate the workstations for ergonomics conditions.
-Provide compulsory ergonomic training employees.
-Purchased new ergonomics office equipment.
-The support and funding of the upper management for it
